FIVE STAR FABULOUS : St Regis Bali Resort

IMG_1097

Even when you live in paradise – you need a sneaky getaway, and given that Seminyak was slightly cray cray during the Christmas, New Year, School holiday stretch, my BF and I were looking for some time out away from party town which is what the Yak turns into during this time. We were in desperate need of quiet time where we could do, ummm, well, absolutely nothing.

We decided that the calmness and serenity of beautiful Nusa Dua was calling our names, this would be the perfect spot to wind down and, we wanted to do it in style so the stunning St Regis Bali was where we were going to stay.

As soon as you drive through the spectacular St Regis entrance we knew instantly we had made the perfect choice. Having stayed there many years ago, we had forgotten how truly magnificent this resort is.

Right from the second we entered the exquisite lobby, we were treated like royalty, check in was super speedy, which was great because I was dying to familiarise myself with the resort all over again. Within minutes we were escorted by Edi (our private butler) to check out our one bedroom St Regis lagoon villa. The property actually has 42 villas and each and everyone of them has undertaken a total refurbishment at a total value of $5 million USD.

This villa was beyond what I could have ever imagined, this newly refurbished mini palace, is large, luxe and lavish. Décor perfectly reflected the traditional Balinese / Javanese style, opulent but not too over the top. The villa was so large, lounge, dining, extremely impressive bedroom, exquisite marble bathroom, with an enormous “I want to dive into your right now bathtub”. Outside was our own private pool, a bale that you just wanted to lay in all day, but my favourite part, stairs that led directly into the HUGE, and I mean HUGE (4,900 m2 to be exact), salt water lagoon pool that surrounds a good part of this property. I seriously think that this is THE biggest pool in Bali. AHHHHMAZING.

The resort offers 5 delicious dining choices, but beachfront at the beautiful Kayuputi restaurant was where we wanted to dine. We have eaten here in the past, and I had literally been dreaming of their pasta from when i last inhaled it approx. 5 years earlier , the smoked chicken linguine is legit the best thing I have tasted ever. This restaurant overlooks the stunning blue waters of their private pristine stretch of Nusa Dua beach as well as the beautiful blue beachfront pool and pool bar. The service here is impeccable as is the food. Speak to Harald Wiesmann, the sommelier who has been there forever and a day, there is a reason St Regis has won the best wine list in Bali, and he is it.

There is nothing to do here except relax, and it is so super easy to do that, the resort has such a calmness about it, we spent our time swimming, snoozing, swanning around the enormous pool, sunbaking, sipping on cocktails and of course taking in that perfect view. Their golden sand private beach is lined with sun loungers and the waiters deliver beverages and food straight to your lounger, so your sunbaking session need not be interrupted.

The St Regis staff are nothing short of incredible, attending to every request at a moment’s notice, their big Bali smiles melt my heart. From the buggy drivers, to the waiters, to the ever-attentive and extremely patient person that answered my ongoing requests when I pushed the “butler service” on my phone, nothing ever was a problem, not even me leaving my sunglasses in the car we arrived in, somehow they managed to track them down and i found them later that morning sitting by my bed !

The gardens are vast and lush, be sure to take a walk thru all of them, you will find the most amazing hidden secret spots.

Cocktails and a bottle of champagne in the King Cole Bar whilst watching the fire dancers was the prelude to our beautiful dinner (we couldn’t resist dining again at Kayuputi ) . This restaurant takes on a whole new feel at night, with the subtle lighting showcasing its grand white architecture and that beautiful chandelier over the main bar. And, yes….. another dish of that smoked chicken linguine please!

Our sleep was sweet, this super king bed with its incredibly large pillows – was like sleeping on a cloud. There is nothing like waking up to another day in paradise in the worlds most comfortable bed.

Be warned: Breakfast will break the diet, with so much on offer at the buffet as well as many a la carte choices included from the menu, I found myself circling the buffet over and over again – wanting to try every single thing.
St Regis Nusa Dua is a retreat from the crazy that Bali can sometimes be, it’s so peaceful here, nothing to do except relax and remove yourself from the outside world, there is so much on offer here at the resort, there is no reason to ever leave its grounds.

The Remede spa is a beautiful escape offering a range of excellent treatments and pamper packages in the most beautiful setting, it also features an Aqua Vitale Hydrotherapy pool which is a great way to start, or even end your day, the gentle pressure of the massage jets relaxes your body and any stresses from the outside world will be quickly forgotten.

I loved the St. Regis Butler service which is available to not only the Villas Guests, but each and every guest can enjoy this on call  butler service. They are available 24 hours a day to assist with all your needs, be that a nanny, a round of golf, a tour to the elephant park, an outside dinner reservation. The St Regis staff are here to take care of you.
I need to tell you, we were only booked to stay one night, but ended up staying three…. We just didn’t want our time here to come to an end. But like all good things, they eventually do.

The St Regis Bali Resort  is Five Star Fabulous and I can highly recommend this relaxing resort to anyone looking for a bit of a break from the crazy life, its quiet, its romantic, its lush and its luxe its Paradise done to Perfection.
